At the outset, I  Wish each one of you and your family members, A Very Happy and Peaceful Deepavali.  May this festival of lights, bring light into our less fortunate bretheren.

My earnest plea to each one of you is to light up the young hearts of our very poor school children studying at our Institution in Mahim, by sponsoring their education.  You can do this by sending in your contribution by an account payee cheque in favour of Canossa High School, Mahim, and send it to our School address of Mahim i.e. Station Road, Mahim West, Mumbai 400016, India.  Any amount is welcome as  I have been told that the funds which were coming in year in and year out, has suddenly been stopped and hence the School Management is in a quandry.
As you all are aware that the Canossians have always reached out to the poor children in uplifting them, giving them education and launching them into the world.  All this requires funds, and as a major Trust donor has stopped funding this project, it has become very difficult for our Sisters.  Hence, I plead of each of you to please contribute to this worthy cause.

Dear Canossians,

I have been deliberating for sometime whether I should put up this post.  I am now convinced that I must share my experience with all of you.

My visit to the mission station of the Canossians at Shrirampur, Maharashtra, on 21st September 2014.

Being invited by my Religion Teacher, Sr. Fatima Rebello  for the silver jubilee of their Insitute, I gladly accepted the same.  Not being able to travel alone, I requested Pamela, Secretary of the Ex Students Association of Canossa Mahim to accompany me.  She very graciously accepted the same.

At one time this mission station was to be shut down.  Sr. Sheila, the Superior took up the challenge and believe it or not, she has made it work.  With little or no income, Sr. Sheila started with the Kindergarden School, graduated to Teacher's Training Course (through Karnataka University) and then to the English Speaking Classes conduced by Sr. Fatima.  With this generation of income, the Mission station is able to sustain itself.

It did give me great joy to attend the function, which was so well organised ( I have to pull up my socks as far as the Organisation skills) and to over 500 people were served lunch.

At the Eucharist, we had the couples who were not officially blessed with the Sacrament of Marriage, living in far off villages, brought at the Table of the Lord and blessed and exchanged rings.  This was a ceremony beyond me, to see even very old couples with grand children exchanging rings.

The Sisters of Shriramput alongwith their Superior Sr. Sheila visit the remote villages everyday, teaching them basic cleanliness, duties towards their families and how they can support each other, financially and otherwise.

Dear Ex Students,

Today the Committee Members of the Ex Students Association of Canossa, Mahim,on  behalf of all the Ex Students Wish All the Sisters of Canossa (all over the world) A Very Very Happy and Prayerful Feast Day.

ESAC presented each and every Sister at Canossa, Mahim a small token of our love and appreciation for all that they have done to make each one of us what we are today.  We also thanked them for their continuous prayers for each one of us and our families.

ACTIVITIES IN 2014 EX STUDENTS ASSOCIATION OF CANOSSA HIGH SCHOOL, MAHIM

PROUD  TO  BE  AN  EX  STUDENT

1.  Visit  to  our  Canossian  Talasari  Mission  Centre  -  This was an experience to cherish and remember.  Our Canossian Nuns are working zealously with the unfortunate ones, specially with   Leperosy Patients.  They have a fully equipped hospital and a medical centre in a remote village in Talasari, where our nuns attend daily to the sick villagers tirelessly and with alot of involvement and devotion.  We had given them a cheque of Rs10,000/- towards their Mission and hope to do better.

I can say alot about our Mission Centre, but seeing is believing.  One must try and visit our Mission Centre to have a first hand feel of how our Canossian Sisters are working and in what conditions.

2.  Teachers Day  -  we went to the School today and feliciated the Teachers with a Basket of Roses and a Plaque  to be kept in the Staff Room.  Ofcourse we just spent barely fifteen minutes with the Teachers, as Sr. Margaret (Principal) had arranged a funfilled day for them, with Mass, Breakfast, Games and Lunch and not to mention a token of appreciation to each one of them.

3.  ESAC has sponsored five trophies to Std X Students by contribution Rs7000/- to the same.
These trophies will be awarded every year commencing this year for -

3.1  BEST  STUDENT  OF  THE  YEAR
3.2  A STUDENT EXCELLING IN SPORTS
3.3.  A STUDENT EXCELLING IN EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
3.4   A STUDENT EXCELLING IN MORAL VALUES
3.5   AN ALL ROUND STUDENT

ESAC has initially this year given five Rolling Trophies to the above students, which are kept with the School.

4.  We have also given a Scholarship of Rs5000/- each  to our Night School Student of Std V and Std VIII, which has commenced this year,  having the highest marks in ENGLISH.
   
Ofcourse in the near future coming up will be Sisters Day etc.  We will keep you posted on the acitivites.

RE UNION WITH A DIFFERENCE 4 - 01 - 2015

Dear Ex Students of Canossa High School, Mahim,

There has been a big gap in communicating to you all about our Ex Students Association.  Well now, we have some great knews.

Esac is organising yet another Reunion on 4th Jan 2015 at the School between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
This time we promise to give u all the time to chit chat with your long lost batchmates and friends and above all our  TEACHERS.

After receiving the feedback on the last Reunion, we are glad to inform all of you that this time we will start at sharp 11 a.m. and will open the reunion to all of you to just chill out with each other.
You may dance, sign, chat, take pictures etc etc.  The Committee will not bog you down to your chairs.

So please do come in large numbers, inform as many as you can and we the Committee Members would only be too happy to see each one of you enjoying the company of your batchmates and Teachers.

So block 4th Jan 2015, and we will see u there.

Dear Girls,
